So this post can be wheeled out again.

In other news : Simon Hughes says he's bowled the occasional doosra. This story will be dead within a day or two.

As will the Lib-dems. I'm not sure any one cares about him *insert obscure cricket phrase and chuckle like a 14 year old chav* but lying about it for the past month was just stupid

Interesting that as soon as we have to get serious about the Lib-Dems, the spotlight soon picks up some inconvenient facts and liaisons. Not as nicey-nicey as we thought then.

That's a bit unfair he didn't really do anything nasty. He hasn't got a wife or child or anyone in his personal life who he's betrayed. Enjoying a spot of gayness isn't hypocritcal as he hasn't been baging on about family values or the badness of gays. He was just an idiot for not being honest.

No one really cares about Alan Duncan being a bit gay

He was just an idiot for not being honest.

I'd say this is what concerns people the most, idiocy and dishonesty are far more likely to alienate voters than being gay ever will.

Then again, you might not think that lying to 17,874 people who voted for you doesn't constitute anything nasty or a betrayal.

The running theme in the LibDems is their astonishing ability to outrightly deny the truth with bare faced lies, not the sort of people you want running the country.

What is the single issue argument about Blair and Iraq ? Whether he lied or not. Never mind if the war was right or wrong. Whilst you could open a good discussion on what constitutes a "lie" in Blair's case, its a no-brainer if, when asked "are you a gay/piss-head ?" you answer "no" when you really are gay or a piss-head.

Duncan is one person you can never accuse of concealing being gay !

Lee -- So true. I once (for my sins) worked in local government policy units for councils controlled by both Labour and Conservatives. The Lib Dem councillors were the most impolite, nasty and manipulative, while the Conservatives and the Labourites treated officers like me with courtesy.

The Tory MP Alan Duncan has always been open and honest about his homosexuality, he was elected on that bases by his constituents and promoted for his abilities by a party that is perceived as being anti-gay, Oh the irony.

This has always been a question of honesty, integrity and truth, what happens in private is no one else’s business, but the public ‘image’ of a publicly elected official is. Honesty is admitting the truth; integrity is admitting the truth before an election and hypocrisy is admitting it after ones been caught out.

Thats the thing about Liberals generally - they are rarely ever as nicey nicey as they seem. They are duplicitous nasty, two faced hypocrites.

That's the problem with Right-wingers. They're always making profoundly unpleasant and totally baseless generalisations.

That’s the problem with Left-wingers. They’re always defending the profoundly unpleasant and totally baseless.

It's an improvement at least, only lying about former gay lover instead of being accused of attempted murder of one.

Teabag

Criticising commentators for making profoundly unpleasant and totally baseless generalisation while making profoundly unpleasant and totally baseless generalisations about them is called hypocrisy.

: I now learn that Mr Oaten is accused of three-in-the-beds. Fielding between point and gully?

Oh you really are no different than 14 years olds when it comes to sniggering about gays.
