"If you stereotype them as terrorists, they'll turn to terrorism"

I suppose this is the theory that gives us high levels of youth crime. If only we didn't demonise the little angels, youth crime wouldn't exist. Such sensitive souls.

The new Miss England, Hammasa Kohistani, may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but her comments are still of interest.

The attitude towards Muslims has got worse over the year. Also the Muslims' attitude to British people has got worse.

Even moderate Muslims are turning to terrorism to prove themselves. They think they might as well support it because they are stereotyped anyway.

Well, she knows her own people, and if she thinks they are legally brain dead, who are we to contend otherwise?

"Oh, I may as well be a mass murderer because the British are stereotyping me, Mama. It's just so unfair! I think I'll go make a bomb with some friends."

There's a wonderfully obtuse paragraph in Hazel Croall's article, where she discusses the portrayal of the police on TV. She seems to be saying that showing police (& the powerful) as often corrupt is a positive thing.

Now I would have thought that if it is true that portraying youth as being criminal leads them (and ther peers) to crime, then the same must be true of the Police when they are portrayed as less than honest.

Is the present incompetence of Ian Blair a result of the cancellation of Dixon of Dock Green?

A very good point john. I remember an episode of the Bill dealing with drug addiction, domestic violence and the promiscuous gay lifestyle - and that was before we got out of the police station.

Shouldn't these beauty contest winners stick to proclaiming their desire to travel the world & help children & animals, rather than make fatuous comments on politics....?

She should what who she ends up supporting here. The extreme section of the society she comes from would no doubt like to stone her for indecency.

She is a fairly plain girl. Not ugly, but you wouldn't notice her on the street. Out of all the beauties in England, they chose this? I wonder how much it cost her father.

Wouldn't stereotype muslims if they showed a bit of solidarity towards this country and stood up to criticise extremists.
They live in "communities", make excuses for suicide bombers, blame us for blowing us up.....excuse me, Miss, so called England, you're in the wrong job.

Official British Government Definition of a Moderate Muslim:

'One who is involved in fewer than four separate terrorist plots at any one time.'
