Finished ...

the Obama book. Most interesting. Highly recommended, especially as he's probably going to be the Big Man by tomorrow.

Like Tony Blair, to his admirers he's the blank slate that you can project pretty much any dream onto. As with Mr Blair, we shall see. Can he be worse domestically than TB was in the UK ?

I'm pretty sanguine about / resigned to the result, although you never can tell - and a good thing too, as happy November days like this one come but rarely.

One step closer to America's South African future.

Oh, as we know now, he's won. But a 'big man'..?

No, in every way, still a little one...

I think he is a very weak candidate who won because he is not white, and promised all things to all man.

His promise to cut taxes to 95% of the people while raising spending by huge amounts can't be fulfilled so a lot of people will be disappointed.

And what do you make of his last minute promise to create an internal security force the same size as and with the same budget as the American military? What sort of society does he envisage that will need this?

Steve t - maybe he has a hotline to Mugabe. I believe he has some experience with such things.

Obama's problem is how to placate the black voters now. Obviously this will entail looting white wealth in some way as it always does. But then the system will start to fail too quickly, got to try for a second term.

Of course he could keep the white technocrats in place to keep the country going but again where is the vibrancy pay-off?

There is the SA example though. Plenty of big man jobs for non-whites while white subordinates toil in the background doing the actually work. Thats a bit like how the Ottoman Empire worked. Elite white slaves to keep things running.

First Lewis Hamilton, now Barack Obama.

A double whammy for the self-esteem of UK Commentators' underachieving white supremacists.

My thoughts are with you in these difficult times.

"First Lewis Hamilton, now Barack Obama."

Please! They don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath!

Hamilton got there on talent and skill alone. He won his championship. And he didn't need to be groomed by hard-left domestic terrorists to do it...

Bomber Harris,

Thank-god those under-achieving white men invented the Internet or you would not be able to offer us your condolences.

Really Julia and where are all those other black drivers & champions, car designers, engine technicians, pit crews etc etc. Who invented the car in fact, developed F1? And in a parallel field where all those motorbike champions?

Is Hamilton really the best we could find or a reasonable talent parachuted into the best car (all the while lauded by your beloved liberal MSM)

The whole purpose of the Hamilton episode is to compromise an otherwise implicitly white enterprise; F1. There wont be a flood of other black drivers, are there any in contention down the ranks?

Julia you are so on the case normally but when it comes to race our liberal pals play the likes of you like a fiddle.

You can expose lib/left stuff all day long and you do a great job but when it comes down to it they will play the race card every time it counts and we dont.

Half of white voters went for Obama yesterday but we are supposed to worry about white racists. 90%+ black voters went for Obama and thats apparently the act of a nuanced post-racist electorate. Bullsh*t, its naked ethnic collective action by one group against another. Until we call that every time we will be whittled away to nothing and espousing conservative, libertarian sensitivities ie European principles (and ironically liberal ones too you dont see much of them in Brazil, Zimbabwe or SA) will count for nothing.

It should be noted that Blacks historically vote overwhelmingly for the Democrat candidate - although not the near 99% that did this time. But there was something unsettling watching the TV interviews with black voters who all seemed to feel that the fact that Obama was black was the important issue instead of what (if anything) he stands for.

Away from the presidential vote, it seems that California has voted for a constitutional ban on gay marriage.

No doubt all those redneck whites who dominate the Californian scene will be responsible. NOT (or Naaarrrt as I believe they pronounce it over there).

Looks like a case of white liberals coming up against the distressingly reactionary views of their sainted minorities.

"We'll take your open borders and your taxpayers' largesse Gringo, but you can keep your steeenking gay marriage hombre."

His interest in cars started when he was about 5, and he worked his way up through karting, etc to get where he is now.

I don't care about his colour, because in this sport it truly doesn't matter - once he's in the car, it comes down to skill.

No amount of preferential treatment or positive discrimination would help him where it matters - out on the track.

Well, apart from all those Brazilians. And Italiens. And Japanese. And...

I think you get the point :)

'Italiens'...?

Gawd help me - spelling fail!

I'll give you the Japanese Julia but Italians, afraid they are white too old girl. Im guilty of mixing my terms here, lets say European from now on.

As for the Brazilians, well genetically there is no such discrete entity. Primarily they are black or European or indigenous indian or a mixture of any two or three. But Id bet good money that all the race car drivers are almost entirely of European origin.

Hamilton is of course half-European.

My point still stands (barring the Japanese!) re F1. The fans, the drivers, the designers, the engineers, the pit crews etc etc. Its an implicitly European activity, one which has large appeal. That cant go unchallenged.
