Death In Real Time

I wrote what seems like an age ago :

Humphrys has called for assisted suicide to be made legal. I'm sure there are people who'd pay good money to watch the death in real time - with perhaps a lottery involved, the lucky winner to remotely operate the barbiturate driver from their PC or mobile.

This week :

It’s thought that up to 1500 people watched 19-year-old Abraham K Biggs, of Broward County, Florida, take an overdose on website Justin.tv, earlier this week.

Numerous online sources have reported that his broadcast – the copy of which has since been removed from the web – showed Biggs swallow a mixture of pills before becoming unconscious.

Anxious viewers called local police after Biggs’ body lay lifeless on a bed for several hours. The broadcast also showed police and paramedics bursting into the troubled teen’s room.

I wonder if there will come a day when preventing a person committing suicide becomes a criminal offence.

Once again the Left cannot think this through. They are like children, or animals, they think in real time. They do not think of the consequences.

My God, have we not learned anything from the last forty years of disastrous social experiments? That barriers exist for a reason?

Anyway, it's just another nail in the coffin of western civilisation, the inevitable consequence of killing at the other end of life.

So they were sat glued to their screens watching a motionless body for 'several hours' before getting worried? Reality TV has more to answer for than I'd thought.

When the subject of capital punishment comes up someone will usually say yeah, great, lets show it on tv, then pretty soon people will be against it - again. Maybe that thought experiment is flawed...
