Sam Tarrant is a very astute young feller. And yes, life's not fair. There are always people like the girl you describe, and they are sleazy enough to go after what they want by hook or by crook. They infest every organisation and they often win. Sometimes you can spike their guns, though.

Spreading rumours about them is good.
