Domestic Violence As A Source Of Amusement ...

Imagine a man who finds his wife is unfaithful and attacks her.

Now imagine he attacks her with a golf club - a potentially deadly weapon.

Imagine she flees the house in terror, bleeding from head injuries, drives away, but because of her injuries crashes the car just a hundred yards away, while her husband follows, club in hand, to smash the car windows.

What would Cath Elliott say ? Or Laurie Penny ? Or the Stroppers ?

I dread to think what punishment would be deemed suitable for the offender - you all know I'm more of a rehabilitation type myself.

It's strange, but reverse the sexes of the protagonists, and both men and women find the idea* hilarious.

(* the idea, not the facts of the Tiger Woods case, which are obscure. Best of order in the comments please)

It's been one sided from time immemorial, though. Look at all those seaside postcards with the tiny little huband quailing from the hulking housewife with the rollng pin...

Happen to Russian man as well. They get dominated by women easily so they take drugs and drink and beat them up.

This Anglo Saxon Equality=sameness stuff is nonsense. A man ought to be a little scared of his love, and as Julia M says, it has always been like that. People are laughing because they sympathise, not because they hold Mr Woods in contempt--it certainly makes him more human to me. Beauty and fire and the capacity to provoke sheer mental fear are all sterling qualities in the mother of your children.

I hope that they leave him and Nordberg or whatever her name is alone now.

Somehow I can't see a good side to this, care to explain?

Hmm, Laban posts about the double standard of finding domestic violence against men funny.

A few people make comments about how funny they think what 'allegedly' happened to Tiger Woods is.

Some people are just thick as two short planks and can't help themselves.

A black man gets beaten by his white partner? That's freakin' hilarious as, usually, it's the other way round.

Maybe Laban would like to speculate about why gender trumped race in this game of victimhood poker, and thereby made a black man the villain. Personally, I suspect that Woods is not seen as properly black, a belief borne out by the frequent accusations of coldness levelled against him.

On another note, if Woods can be held up as an example of how blacks can also succeed, he can now also be held up as an example of the woosedom of the black male. The sheer hardness of blacks is usually overestimated as people get fooled by how early they experience puberty - once they are adults blacks really aren't that hard.

Appreciation of this will no doubt cause the status of blacks in the more macho sectors of western society to plummet, thereby causing precisely the sort of unwelcoming environment that pc twits fear (but I personally rejoice in).

Alex - you would have appreciated the comment (I forget where) to the effect that "once again we see that in the South in 2009 a white person can beat up a black man and get away with it".

and Alex, I don't see Tiger vs Tigress as emblematic of anything at all, or proving anything about black, white or pink people one way or the other.
