Police - "a minor assault that went wrong"

Someone needs to have a word with Detective Inspector Simon Crisp.

Det Insp Simon Crisp said: "The reasons surrounding why Dean was assaulted remain a mystery and there is no clear motive.

"It is quite possible that this was a minor assault that went wrong and the offender did not intend to end Dean's life."

Perhaps he's like to give his definition of a successful minor assault.

A successful minor assault is when you are still standing and can kick the hell out of the person that hit you.

I wonder if he would have described it as 'a minor assault gone wrong' if the victim had been of a slightly different colour? My guess is no, instead the onions would have appeared, and he would have gone beyond the normal banal and meaningless police-script about it "being a tragedy" and how "their thoughts are with the family".

Perhaps (see your own past postings) 'an isolated incident'

As you can see from this case in Sheffield, when the Jury get to have a chance in deciding what is the truth or not, Modern Liberal sensibilities rightly go out of the window.
