"Yes it is true," responded McKellen in even tones. "Its Leviticus 18:22 that I object to, or is it 22:18, I've always got to look it up. Thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination. And they, I think the punishment for an abomination was being stoned to death," he said.
McKellen added, "I think it's rather obscene and pornographic, and shouldn't be there, so I remove it."
Asked how many bibles he has vandalized, McKellen replied, "I have no idea, but other people do it as well, people send me evidence that they have been removing that."
McKellen has been vandalizing bibles in the same fashion for at least a few years. He first admitted publicly to the activity in 2004 in an interview with the UK Telegraph.
I'm presuming Mr McKellen doesn't stay at Malaysian hotels.

But only a horrid Nazi would burn a book.
McKellen is an actor and that conveys no other attribute than an ability to pretend you are someone you are not.
I'd be more impressed if he went around cutting out the equivalent (actually, much worse) items of the Koran.
Soft targets are easy.
What a hero. As the above comment said, I doubt he does the same to the Koran, even though homosexuals ARE regularly put to death by Islamist regimes (in Iran and elsewhere) while I think even Ian 'bally hero' Mckellen would struggle to find one killed by a Christian government within the last 100 years.
It strike me as counter-productive. It you rip pages out, then the book will naturally fall open at the gap, and presumably pique the interest of anyone idly flipping through a hotel bible.
Not to mention the publicity given that verse in all the interviews McKellen has mentioned it.
Errrr...Let's not forget: it IS an abomination...to immerse an organ of human generation in excrement!
