A Post or Two ...

At Biased BBC.

Reading the Booker Rising blog made me want to find out more about Booker T Washington, for whom the blog is named.

I've started reading his autobiography, Up From Slavery. Fascinating stuff.

After that I'll start on another great man - Frederick Douglass. Just check out these quotes.

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them.

It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.

A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it.

Wikipedia reports "Washington in 1901 was the first African-American ever invited to the White House as the guest of President Theodore Roosevelt. Though Roosevelt did not announce the invitation, news of it leaked out bringing a swift and noisy uproar, especially in the South." That is less than frank - it should have said "especially from the Democratic Party".

Laban, following your interest in black conservatives, there's a nice post here that you might appreciate. Lots of interesting links and a video.

@ Tdk,

Great stuff. Being a black conservative, or rather a conservative who happens to be black, is lonely in this country. Trust me - I know. I live in fear of being found out and lynched by white liberals and their efnick spokespersons.
