Cleansing The Streets

Over at Comment Is Free the hottest topic is Jackie Ashley's Londonistan post, with 500-plus comments.

On the one side, people who are worried about a perceived growth in Islamist power in the UK, and think we are on the path to terrible dangers.

On the other side, people who are worried about a perceived growth in anti-Islamic sentiment in the UK, and think we are on the path to terrible dangers. To these posters, the Muslims are the new Jews, and 'Islamophobia' is the new anti-semitism.

I'm not sure if this latter argument holds much water. Did extremist German Jews in the 1920s and 30s set off terrorist bombs in the Berlin subway, and demonstrate in the capital calling for a repeat performance ? Did they announce that German civilisation would soon be replaced by an Orthodox state, with the whole of the Reich one giant eruv ? Maybe they did and the worldwide Zionist conspiracy kept it out of the history books.

I added my four-penn'orth to the debate, and linked to my old post about the cleansing of the red-light districts in Lumb Lane, Bradford and Balsall Heath, Birmingham.

Both cases were hailed as 'community action' at its best. Only an angry correspondent to the T&A pointed out that the cleansing was achieved by "violence and a form of gender/racial cleansing instigated primarily by Asian youth against working white women."

In reality what happened was that the streets became unsafe for ANY young white woman to walk - or even drive, in some instances. A friend of mine was attacked and her car stoned - she subsequently moved from the area she'd lived in for six years.

When posting before I'd missed the angry correspondent from Balsall Heath, pointing out that the same thing had happened there.

"I live in the Balsall Heath of Birmingham and find it strange that the report on community action in the area to remove prostitution fails to mention the Muslims beating up women they suspected of being prostitutes which included students. My friend who was visiting me had a rock thrown at her car because they thought she was a kerb crawler."

You can understand the confusion though - after all, don't ALL non-Muslim women dress like tarts ?

"You can understand the confusion though.."

Well, not really. In most dramatisations & documentaries, it's the MEN who kerb-crawl in cars, not the prostitutes.

Still, if you just want to use the licence the 'community' gives you to harass white women, why let established roles get in the way?

Laban,

Maybe it would be OK if they wore burqas...

Or maybe not...

It was perfectly reasonable for Germans under the Weimar Republic to fear communism, and it was a matter of fact that some Jews were prominent in the Communist Party. What was, of course, not reasonable was to take that observation as evidence for the purely racist belief that communism was part of a Jewish conspiracy against the Fatherland.

Jackie Ashley would have us see 'anti-Muslim feeling' as analogous to anti-Semitism, rather than, say, to anti-communism. Of course it's true that racist attitudes to Muslims exist, but the inference that it is racist to have concerns about Islam as a belief system is a deeply mischievous one.

Here's one reason why it won't do: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5033652.stm

However Germans correctly noted that jews were over represented in the ranks of the bolsheviks in Russia.

Who needs prostitution when you have Nikah Mut'ah ?

So Thornton Road has replaced Lumb Lane as the centre of Bradford's cultural life ?

As for Germany - the Jewish population was about 1-2% and very highly integrated. The arianisation of major corporations like Metallgesellschaft, Hertie, Wertheim, and AEG, Ullstein Verlag, shows how integrated tthey were.

It was the Integration to which the Nazis objected, not the separateness.

They wanted "multiculturalism" so they could eradicate the other cultures, that was the whole point. The very integration of Germany's Jewish population was the thing the Nazis wanted to end with the Nuremberg Race Laws of 1935.

for Germans under the Weimar Republic to fear communism,

Especially after Communists took control of Dortmund in 1923 and staged uprisings in various cities such that the Army had to send in armoured units - bit like Dublin in Easter 1916.

Helpfully the Belgians and frencg invaded Germany and occupied The Ruhr to add to Berlin's problems - thus creating hyperinflation as production collapsed

This is what the Nazis did - link the "Jews" to the "Communists"

That wasn't hard - German SPD founded by August Bebel; Spartakists Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht - Karl Marx etc

It was hardly a secret that needed propagating. Then the german Foreign Minister Rathenau (of AEG) who signed the Versailles Treaty in 1919..................look how steamed up Tories get about Maastricht and who signed that - and that did not take away our Royal Navy, Army, or Air Force.

Actually, heavily Jewish Communist parties had staged violent revolutions in places like Munich and Hungary at the end of WWI. And Jews, such as Trotsky, were highly over-represented among the ranks of killers in the Soviet Union.

For the reasons so many well-educated secular Jews were "Stalin's Willing Executioners," see UC Berkeley historian Yuri Slezkine's 2004 book "The Jewish Century."

Well it certainly didn't do them any good. In places like Kiev you could still get beaten up for being Jewish in the 1970s. I wonder if it's changed ?

In respose to Ian London here...Nikah Mut'ah is in fact a tradition that was accepted with the Shia sect of muslims. The third Caliph Uthman abolished the practice to the annoyance of the Shia's. I have yet to come across who has admitted to the practice of Nikah Mut'ah (marriage of convenience..for those who dont understand. A marital arrangement between a man and woman that has a set time limit.)
